Pillar II

Protect.

From his first undercover assignment to his final patrol, Eric was adamant about getting drugs out of Clay County and the West Virginia communities around it. These programs carry that message forward.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9 · KJV
Programs

Three ways the message reaches kids.

Built around the places where Clay County’s young people gather — ball fields, classrooms, and county stages — these programs reach families where they already spend their time.

Spring · Little League Strike Out Drugs

The foundation partners with the Clay County Little League each spring. On Super Saturday, every little leaguer receives a foundation water bottle and a drug‑free pledge card. A “Strike Out Drugs!” banner hangs over the Dundon ball fields.

Local businesses join in by displaying the slogan on their storefronts — so the message reaches every family on their way to the game.

Fall · Soccer Kick Out Drugs

Kick Out Drugs brings the same drug‑free message to Clay County soccer — where the autumn season gives the foundation a second window each year to reach West Virginia families with Eric’s story.

Banners, pledges, and partner businesses turn the day into a county‑wide conversation about choices, futures, and the kind of community Eric believed in.

Annual stage The My Hero Pageant

On the My Hero stage Eric’s sister, Rebecca, speaks about the brother who fearlessly gave his life in the line of duty — a life taken by someone under the influence of drugs.

“Dare to be drug‑free. Dare to be the person God created you to be — you are, after all, fearfully and wonderfully made.”
